boy. well, it's been a little while since the holiday season wrapped up, and i think i needed a bit of a breather before i sat down to reflect upon it. it went by really fast, which i suppose is for the best. but now it all just kinda feels like a blur, with sufjan stevens playing in the background...
first of all i would like to say hi to alec, who i know for sure is reading this, since i finally got to see her last week in nyc! she was up-to-date on all the blogworthy details of my(or should i say our) life, which made catching up that much easier. we didn't have to spend much time going over the events of the past three years, and instead could concentrate on hearing about her beautiful daughter sloane, and watching her husband, russell, attempt to ride the mechanical bull that the bar we were drinking in so kindly provided.
i feel i need to qualify some of these statements i just made with descriptions, most especially the mechanical bull. alec told cw and i to meet them at mason dixon, a bar on the lower east side which i had seen before and noted due to the fact that it's front door is fashioned to resemble that of a non-descript barn. unfortunately, the rural decor did not inspire the lower-east sider types to dress like normal people rather than like the douches that they are, but no matter- as alec and i have proved many times before, we can have fun anywhere. and probably even more so if there are people to make fun of. i should note that neither alec nor russell were instrumental in picking this bar. they live in miami, so they can not be implicated in nyc bar choices. however, i think i speak for all of us when i say it turned out to be just grand.
back to the bull. at the back of said bar was an area set aside for mechanical bull riding, a spectacle which i imagine might become totally unbearable given the crowd, but on this night was not seeing a lot of use. after losing a bet of sorts(a whole other story), russ headed back to ride the bull, being that he is a man of his word. he very wisely allowed himself to fall off pretty early on in the ride, ensuring that he wouldn't have any bull-riding related injuries. from what we heard, it doesn't always go so well.
anyhow, basically the story is that i got to see alec and russ, and they got meet charles, finally, and we did all of this and saw russ ride a mechanical bull, and got licked on the face(all of us) by an extremely intoxicated and arguably insane gentleman from new zealand who insisted on screaming the words to "i will survive" at me until i relented and finished one of the verses with him. charles, for the record, got motley crue.
ah...new york.
i must go, it's work time. but i will finish my x-mas holiday reverie at a later date. promise.
